Saffron has been cherished and grown for thousands of years and is deeply rooted in many cultures. Historically, Greek scholars referred to saffron as an aphrodisiac as it was revered by all cultures alike.
The climate of Persia, provided the ideal conditions for cultivation of the highest grade saffron, due to its dry atmosphere. There is also great knowledge needed for its cultivation, which our farmers have been able to master and perfect.
Every Saffron flower contains 3 stigmas, which are picked and dried by hand. Velvet Saffron contains whole, and long stigmas which adds to its premium quality. As a result, a pound of saffron contains thousands of flower stigmas making it the most precious spice. The luxurious aromatic flavour, and stunning yellow colour is released by simply adding hot water or pouring ice over it.
